First Sentence: When I was a little girl I used to dress Barbie up without underpants.

In her fifth high-octane thriller, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum sets out to find her missing uncle– and along the way smacks slam-bang into: a dead body, a nasty bookie, her stun-gun-toting grandmother, two very sexy men, an angry little man who won’t leave her apartment, and a Mafia wedding…

Jersey’s favorite bounty hunter has never been better! With high hair, street smarts and plenty of attitude, Steph’s sure to nail this case– or risk life and spandex-clad limb trying…

As much as I love these books, I’m really starting to feel as if they are getting repetitive. Each book is the same: Stephanie finds out she’s in over her head with her next FTA, she and Morelli develop their love-hate relationship, she traipses around with Lula and Grandma Mazur, going back and forth through town, she gets harassed by a creepy man, her car blows up, and she ends up finally capturing her FTA, wth a little bit of help from Ranger or Morelli. That’s the basic outline of every novel, and it’s starting to get old.

I think that once I take a step back and stop reading this series for a bit, I’ll enjoy it a lot more when I come back. But I doubt that will happen, because regardless of anything I just said, these books are amazing! Evanovich has created Stephanie in a wonderfully charming way. She wants to believe that she’s independent, but she ends up messing up all the time, and giving in to Morelli and Ranger’s advances frequently. Her reactions to the world around her are hilarious, and when her sidekicks are around, I’m soon keeled over in laughter because of the ridiculous situations they get themselves into.

This series is wonderful, and even though they’re repetitive, it works. Evanovich is repeating the good things; the things that were successful in the previous books. I’m continuing to be entertained by this series, and if you’ve never had the pleasure of reading one of them, I highly recommend that you do soon! You won’t be disappointed!
